Podcast 1 – Neo realism compared to Holly Wood
Neo realism came about after world war 2 in the country of Italy. The cinema tried to document the life amongst the poor and the working class. This was filmed on location and by frequently using non – professional actors. Whereas, Hollywood often depicts a traditional glamorous lifestyle. My podcast will evaluate the differences between the two as well as the similarities and determine which movement was most effective.
Podcast 2 – What are the five elements of film?
There are five elements of film which is narrative, cinematography, sound, mise-en-scene, and editing. In my podcast I aim to talk about how each element contributes to a successful piece of media. I would like to focus on the film The Empire Strikes Back because I believe the most important considerations in this film are the special effects and the music. Star Wars without a doubt has the most memorable opening movie music ever created. I would like to explore these elements further in my podcast.
Podcast 3 – Hollywood’s Gender pay gap
The gender pay gap affects most industries, with women generally earning less than their male counterparts. Some of Hollywood’s biggest films have been reported to under pay their female stars by more than 56%, the equivalent of $2.2m less per film. Research claimed seven of the top 10 worldwide grossing films of 2018 paid their male stars 1.8m more than the female stars. These statistics show that the gender gap still exists and is an issue in modern media that needs addressing.
